What was the your best memory of your life in work?
For me the best days of my work was during my Bayantel days, it was my first job, I was only getting around 1,800 per month and I was happy. Fresh from college, I was a contractual handling recruitment application and minor testing. After a month, my superior recommended me to become a Secretary to an Executive and I accepted it. It was the best training I ever had, with a very professional boss and warm officemates which later became my friends. I have my own computer, phone and all the supplies they could provide. I feel like I am always at my best.
Memories at Bayantel:
1. Training at Tagaytay Vista with the ABS-CBN news group, I feel like brushing arms with their news group for TV and Radio
2. The day I wanted to kill myself because I made my first work blunder, I was new and the President of Bayantel, Rod Salazar will be interviewing an executive which they asked me to set up with him, I scheduled with his secretary but didn’t call the person. On the day of the interview, the person didn’t show up because he doesn’t know and the President waited. And waited until I told the secretary that I did not scheduled the interview. Whoa! I was close to dying.
3. Mrs. Fields cookies
4. Christmas party with the ABS CBN executives, Gabby Lopez, Federico Garcia and my boss, hey, I sang a song ” Because you loved me”, whoa ang kapal, but I didn’t win in the contest.
5. Small talks with Eugenio Lopez III, while getting cocktails. Inspiring.
6. In search of a boyfriend while in Bayantel, being a hopeless romantic dreaming one of the engineers would look at me and make pansin, though I married an engineer in the end
7. Countless, gala with Secretary friends, lunch breaks.
9. All the Christmas gifts, na galing sa mga officers, staff and contacts whatever.
10. All the weddings and binyags and the pizza and all the works, I cherished them all.
But being young and restless, I changed job and ended up a Programmer, though I was not known as a Programmer but someone who handles “program” you know Christmas party programs, etc. =).
Memories at FAS:
1. The best memories during that time was during the training I guess, when I lost a lot of weight reviewing and programming COBOL and CICS. I refused to copy the program from my co-trainee, I have my pride, I could do my own program. Well, at least I tried, but in the end, I copied their program.
2. I was wearing skirts and is always in business attire. One co trainee described me as “sophisticated”.
3. I was active, always involved in contest and “programs”.
4. The love trilogy kung meron man.
5. Heartaches and love interests.
6. Awayan ng mga ayaw patawag na matatanda.
7. I developed a major crush kay Geren. hahahaha!
8. Palaging may pagkain at handaan.
Memories at SVIT:
1. The best part of my life here was when I was in the LAN room and I was welcomed warmly and felt accepted and loved na rin.
2. I met my husband.
3. I won sa Christmas party, well first time kong manalo sa raffle.
4. I was trembling the first time I worked as a Technical Support, kakayanin ko bang mag troubleshoot ng computer?
5. I made some friends na mga OJT, I know somehow I inspired them.
6. Payat pa ako before I had a boyfriend, now I am 20lbs overweight. I remember one Tech Support who sees me and said ” ang sexy mo naman!” that made my day.
7. May nabubulag pa pala ako? Well, I’ve known some guy who was attracted to me, for a while.
I realized that these memories are made of people, that enriches you, and inspires you and made you whole. Sometimes people hurt you and you tend to just forget them and erase them from your memories. So in my last job, that’s where I stayed for five years and that’s where all the hurt came from. Memories are good for the first two years but continued to dwindle by the third year, maybe because, you tend to be familiar with the people, and I think sometimes mas welcome ng tao ang mga bago kaysa sa mga luma. Familiarity begets hate sometimes.
